The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace also known as Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi is an action/fantasy series featuring demons that initially aired in the summer 2021 season. Idaten Deities tells the story of a world with demons and godlike beings called Idaten that fight for supremacy. The backstory for this show is that 800 years ago the human race was on the brink of extinction as they were hunted down by demons. Praying to the gods, the humans got salvation with the summoning of Idaten who struck down the demons and then sealed the remaining survivors in another dimension. The story then pans out to the present where the Idatens of that time only know peace.

Mother of the Goddess' Dormitory otherwise known as Megami-ryou no Ryoubo-kun is an ecchi/comedy romance series that first aired in the summer 2021 season. The backstory for Mother of the Goddess Dormitory is that Koushi Nagumo’s life has taken a massive turn for the worse. Not only has his house burned down but his father has abandoned him leaving him destitute and homeless. Spotted in the streets by the eccentric Minera Wachi, she offers him shelter in her home; the Goddess Dormitory.

Sonny Boy is a mystery/supernatural series which first aired in the summer 2021. Reviewing this show is actually quite tricky as this is a series that has proved divisive in the anime community. On the one hand there are clear fans who love the symbolism and vibrant imagery that permeates this series. On the opposite end there are others who believe this show is more a case of style over substance. Personally, I lean but I am not in complete agreement, with the latter but wanted to put this disclaimer out so you as the reader know my stance from the get go.

After the huge success of the Demon Slayer movie it is only natural to think of how the original season was. In the case of Demon Slayer, it was a series I thoroughly enjoyed. Animation is top notch and the story told captivating with charming characters to boot. At its heart it is a shounen show so whilst I consider this one a classic I also know that it won't appeal to all due to its shounen based roots.

The story for Meikyuu Black Company revolves around Kinji Ninomiya who is a NEET and has seemingly never worked a day in his life. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season two part two is an action/fantasy isekai series that aired in the summer 2021 season. Unsurprisingly events in this second part follow straight from part one so naturally this season is not newcomer friendly. You got to watch the previous seasons otherwise you won’t understand a thing that is going on. Saying that, due to the nature of its start, picking up this second part is easy if you haven’t seen part one in a while as there is a lot of recaps to get viewers up to speed. Remake our Life! Also known as Bokutachi no Remake is a time-travel romantic/drama anime series that was first released in the summer 2021. The premise of the show centres on Kyouya Hashiba; a 28-year-old office worker who is major fan of the “Platinum Generation” which is a group of highly talented artists. His admiration for the group is tainted with a hint of envy and it is this envy that makes him regret his decision in pursuing a traditional university degree instead of following his true dreams of attending art school and then working in the gaming industry.

Vowing to make his dream a reality, he decides to quit his job and pursue a career in video games...

Strictly speaking Night Head Genesis is not a prequel as Night Head 2041 seems closer to a reboot than a sequel. At least from that is the vibe I get from seeing the beginning of Night Head 2041. As for the show itself, Night Head Genesis manages to combine sci-fi with the supernatural and is generally an intriguing tale that is hampered by its slow pacing. Don't worry though this series is not required viewing in understanding Night Head 2041 so you can give this a miss and jump straight into the new season if that is more your thing.

When They Cry - Gou is an anime of two halves. The first 13 episodes of this show are devoted to the retelling of events from the original When They Cry series whilst the final 11 episodes take the franchise into new directions! Beware that this season has no conclusion and if you wish to see the ending then you will need to view the Sotsu sequel. As always, this is not for the faint of heart plus I will add this will not be enjoyable for those who enjoy mystery series.
