I cant give the complete story at this time because a few elements differ slightly from source to source. I will post an update after the facts have been laid out clearly.
But from the gist of it. Im pretty sure you all know or have an idea about what happened.
4 Pirates hijacked an American vessel, the Maersk Alabama which contains a crew of 21 Americans off the coast of Somalia.
Quote: The capture of the Alabama marked the first time that American seamen have been seized by pirates who infest the shipping lanes off the east coast of Africa.
-One pirate was lead down to a lower floor then was stabbed in the hand.
-The other 3 pirates seized the Captain as hostage.
-The American crew demanded an exchange of hostages but it was denied.
-The pirates moved into an enclosed lifeboat with the captain as hostage.
-The rest of the crew 20 were rescued by the U.S Navy.
-Captain find opportunity makes a jump in the water but pirates fire he came back.
-Life Boat runs out of fuel and is in rough waters.
-U.S Navy offers to tow life boat to calm waters and it was agreed upon.
- Navy offered pirate medical attention and to negotiate on board Mainbridge.
-Under the cover of night Navy SEALS were parachuted onto the US Navy Destroyer Mainbridge and then posted at the backside in sight of the enclosed lifeboat.
- An opportunity came when all 3 pirates had their heads to shoulders in sight and permission was given to take the shots and they were all taken down simultaneously.
-The remaining pirate is now in custody and Captain Phillips was rescued.
-There were a lot of smaller details but I left them out.
A few
- I heard the lifeboat didnt have a toilet so the pirates were getting irritated because of the passing days with crap and piss stockpiling inside the enclosed life boat.
-Somalia Pirates back on shores attempted to send the other held 230 hostages across 42 ships to assist and create more leverage with the lifeboat with the american captain. They were sent but the US Boxxer made a blockade and threatened to fire if they kept pressing forward and hostage ships retreated. The ships contain hostages over months from many other foreign nations.

So here is the thoughtful time.
Has this incident produced a negative or positive image of America?
- America has responded to save their fellow American by deploying the U.S Navy yet have done nothing to save the other 230 hostages. They say its hypocrisy because America is supposed to help the weak and those in need.
- America's military might was criticized that a measly 4 pirates were able stop and stall the entire U.S Navy.
The Somalian pirates hold 230 hostages currently for months and have kept them all alive and not killed them. The fact they have not harmed a single one has to say something. I mean you have an entire country that follows the law of the gun, its every man for himself, the pirates were teenagers. When a nation falls into desperation so does its people. What do you expect them to do?
----------------------------------------------------------------
My opinion on the matter.
It was misfortune for the pirates that the boat apparently was an American ship. You just don't mess with America period.
If you are prepared to take a life then you better be prepared to lose it.
I believe the pirates have some humanity because they kept the hostages til this day alive. They want money, I mean if you were stranded on an island with very limited food supply wouldn't it be every man for himself in the end? People always act on self interest.
You can call America hypocritical all you want, its not possible for America to deploy all its resources and fix every problem in the world. America is not God. Every good choice America makes toward assisting the global community creates an evil consequence that is inherent. Its like the saying saving a life means being unable to save another.
At least America takes stand and takes action rather then doing nothing at all.
Regarding the criticism of America's military might, please we could have blown that lifeboat out of the water 100 fold if we wanted to.
I believe this incident has opened escalated piracy in the American public eye which may induce America to take action against piracy.
The fact the Somalian pirates vowed revenge to kill all Americans hostages when taken means they have just become America's enemy and created their own death sentence.
Regarding the negative image of America being corrupt. You do understand corruption cannot breath in America when it is found that individual or group gets in big doo doo with the people and the government.
This is the longest post I ever made lol.
