QUOTE (UVERworld @ Jun 13 2006, 09:15 PM) now im a new to this site the first thing i dl and my computer got infested?
What file did you download? The actual files themselves should not contain anything harmful.

I continiously get virus warnings from Mcafee whenever I go to the main fansub.tv site. Starting today, I'm getting a new Sploit(1).anr Exploit virus alert. Before, it was a pme-type file. I get the virus warning JUST by entering the site (typing in the url and hitting enter). Nothing was being downloaded, the download just popped up. This new sploit virus tried to enter the PC without downloading itself - seems like something new.

This doesn't seem like a mere coincidence.

The files that are hosted on FTV are all clean. FTV is proud to provide clean and safe anime episodes.

The problem people are experiencing is due to clicksor ads. Clicksor does not check the content of the ads they send us. Sometimes, these ads can contain some harmfull code. People get a pop-up when they load the main page and the ad section contains code to create a pop-up.

FTV never asked clicksor for pop-ups add. We were always against them because we find them annoying. But apparently clicksor does not monitor all of their non pop-ups add to make sure the are actually without a pop-up!!

We know its annoying, but please try to be patient and understand that everyone here, including the admin are looking for ways to get rid of the problem while keeping a few ads to allow FTV to survive.

Please report Clicksor advertisement issues as soon as they appear. Getting an accurate time and description of what happened helps Clicksor resolve these issues. They have to search through logs to find the culprit, so an accurate time is relatively important.

If you are still having problems and cannot wait for the issue to be resolved, I would like to encourage you to stop using Internet Explorer as a default browser and switch to something less vulnerable (ie Firefox) to malicious malware attacks in the meantime.

Just got attacked by clicksor's lovely poker/sports popups ... It's about 1:45PM (-5 GMT) and they got past my FireFox browser and froze up my computer

Had to unplug it and reboot to get things working again ... now off to do virus/adware scans ...

EDIT: As soon as I log out I get hit with popups ... another one managed to get past my FireFox blocker, plus some others it did block. (It's only been about 5-10 minutes since the first ones)

Dont know if I got this popup from this site or other site I'm at but I just got a porn popup at 1:22 PM (GMT-06:00) Also Im using Netcaptor that suppose to prevent popup like firefox. I receive the same pop up yesterday too but didnt think anything about it.

I also receive that same popup chiisai_hana receive but I didnt look at the time.

I got clicksor trying to open a pop-up on me today. It was 7h14AM GMT-5. I don't know what it looked like exactly, but it definatly came from clicksor.

What happend to the clicksor issue thread??? Who deleted it??

Yea, i've already submitted a trouble ticket about this. It's just a matter of time before they get rid of it.

Again, I would like to encourage that people stop using Internet Explorer as their default browser. I have never had any adware problems ever since I've switched.

Just receive a clisor popup of poker at 11:27 AM (GMT-06:00) It made my computer slow when it popup also.

QUOTE (jul10 @ Jun 28 2006, 07:30 AM) I tink the thread was moved to file distribution section. well, the tittle is about trojan, but the contets is baout pop up too. http://boards.fansub.tv/index.php?showtopic=2460
Normaly moving a thread should not affect its link.

Anyway, I merged my thread with the real one.

QUOTE (Chisai)I'll close this thread so people post there rather than here. Try using merge more often than close when applicable. It allows to keep the number of threads lower and makes it easier to manage the forum.

QUOTE (Tsukino @ Jul 1 2006, 04:21 PM) Just Wondering does anybody have ever catch the virus using firefox. the virus from the homepage
It is NOT "the virus from the home page". I explained that multiple times higher up. Please read up a few posts.

Basicly these virus are served through ads by clicksors and will depends on your location, languages and other things. So depending on where you are and what adds yuo get, not everyone will get the same kind of problem.

mm i understand that. may be i didn't type it properly. i know that the virus is from the ads cause i get the same virus on other sites as well. when i use explorer i get the virus but when i use firefox i notice i don't get the virus and also the it only display 2 of the same ads everytime. so i am asking does anybody ever catch it when they uses firefox to go to this site

That was exactly my point. Firefox is knowed to be a lot less sensible to virus. It may not be affected by the perticular one you are seeing (the pop up blocker would probably explain why you see less adds).

The point was that the specific virus you are seeing right now may go away or it may be another one after some times. So simply using firefox won't protect against all knowed virus. The only good solution is to have a running anti-virus. By the way, everytime your anti-virus says it catched a virus, you should not be worried. You should be glad it is working properly!
